Dragon Cars - Patronato de Turismo
| This costal town is situated 7 km west of Malaga Airport. In the sixties, with the growth of the tourist industry, this small fishermen’s town got a complete makeover. Today, it is a bustling resort with tourists from all over the world flocking to its many beaches. Shopping centers share space with the traditional fresh fish shops; and the restaurants and cafes haven’t edged out the old-fashioned pubs and bars in the streets of the town. The old fishing village of La Carihuela
still retains a lot of character; and a walk down its quiet alleys will reveal a charming village: pretty houses with flower bedecked balconies, pleasant people, and relaxed atmosphere. It is almost another world in another time.

In the town center there are some streets marked as 'pedestrian only’. Along these streets are modest 'shops and restaurants. While the ritzy shopping malls carry international brands and names, these cozy shops display traditional Andalucian arts, crafts and wares made by local artisans and indigenous industry. You can go shopping here for gifts, souvenirs and antiques.
It is the ideal place for that relaxed and enjoyable shopping experience. No hassles of traffic and parking!

The clean and sandy beaches are lined with beach apartments and cottages, swanky hotels, bars and restaurants. There is no dearth of things to do on the beach. There are the chiringuitos (beach bars), and a myriad of seasonal sporting activities like windsurfing, paragliding, water skiing and pedal boats.
With the beaches for a backdrop, and the hotels and restaurants fully geared, the nightlife is pulsating. In a different vein, you may also enjoy the performances of the street entertainers who come out on the streets at night.

| A lot of public parks have come up in the city; and throughout the city a thousand species of trees ranging from the exotic magnolia and banana tree to vibrantly colourful beds of roses and azaleas have been planted.

| There are still pockets of pine woods bordering the town with freshwater springs and there are barbeque facilities available. So, if you have come here on quieter pursuits, you need not be disappointed. The names of the beaches are: Bajondillo, El Saltillo, La Carihuela, Los Alamos, Montemar, and Playamar.
