Skiing
The Sierra Nevada draws crowds of ski lovers to the thick blankets snow on its slopes.
The resort is situated at a distance of just 90 minutes’ drive from the Malaga Airport. There is an underground car park which is the largest in Spain. The capacity of this park is over 2,600 vehicles- the largest car park in Spain. Ski lifts are open to the public from 09.00hrs - 16.30hrs daily. However, weather conditions may affect lift schedules. Lifts are also open Friday and Saturday evenings for night time skiing. |

| The Sierra Nevada Ski Resort provides accommodation, as well as a range of other services to satisfy all the skiing requirements of the tourists. The ski runs here are designed by European and American experts. The pistes are spread over 60 kilometers with 39 courses, and 6 thrilling off-course trails for more adventurous skiing. The 1996 World Ski championships held here vouch for the superb conditions of the services and facilities. Sierra Nevada is famous for its snow grooming, and the artificial snow making system installed here is considered as one of the best in Europe. Snow boarding is another activity that’s gaining popularity- an on-slope half pipe is being built for surfers. Specialised snowboarding shops and schools are also available in the resort. | Professional rangers or monitors are located throughout and part of their job is to examine the slopes before the public opening and closing. The ski area crew use snowmobiles for rapid transportation and its members are trained to give first aid in the case of emergency. |

| There are ski schools like Escuela Espanola de Esqui, Escuela Oficial de Esqui and Escuela Internacional employing highly qualified instructors to conduct ski classes to train beginners. The schools conduct weekly courses and ski activities.

Supported by the University of Malaga, the City Council, and the Ministry of Tourism, Trade and Sports of the Government of Andalusia, and with the help of the Antequera Golf Club and other local institutions, Antequera is one of the candidate towns to host the 2008 University Golf World Championship. The dates suggested by the International University Sports Federation (FISU) are from 22 to 27 June next year. The 2008 University Golf World Championship will be attended by 250 golfers, representing over 30 countries. The previous edition was held in Turin, Italy, in 2006. |

The itinerary is short -3 km- but intense. It takes us to the Sierra de Don Pedro and the east side of the Calamorro mount. In one hour and a half we'll walk from the road A-368, Km. 7, linking Torremolinos and Benalmadena, to the final destination in the Puerto Viejo.

The Desfiladero de Los Gaitanes Nature Spot, in the western portion of the Betic mountain range, features about twenty caves, some of which nestle high up the course of the river.

There is an iron footbridge- the Caminito del Rey- dating from the early twentieth century, built to link Salto del Chorro with Salto del Gaitanejo. It was named Caminito del Rey meaning 'The King's Way' after King Alfonso XIII, who crossed it in 1921, the year he inaugurated the Conde del Guadalhorce reservoir.
