The village of Farajan is located about 17 kilometers south of Ronda in the province of Malaga in Andalusia, a region of southern Spain.It is close to the Alto del Genal and situated on a hill called La colina de Don Fabrique, at 641 metres above sea level, between the mountains surrounding the Genal river-bed. Its population is 303 and its size is 20.4 square kilometers.
Farajan means Pleasent Place. The village has got the archaeological site of el Romeral, as well as rests of the ancient arab setlements of Balastar, Chicar, Majada del Juez and others.
It celebrates a Fair in honour of St. Sebastian in august, from 5th to 7th. The Holy Week is also remarkable, specially the procession of Jesus of Medinaceli and the Virgin of the Pains.
Recommended dishes for lovers of good cuisine are the artichoke soup, the cold vegetable soup, “las migas” and rabbit cooked in garlic, apart from the products derived from pork.
